ABNA24 - A senior Iranian cleric, Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli, has emphasized that defending the homeland and Islamic values is a religious obligation, warning that the enemy has shown no commitment to negotiations or international agreements.
In a video message marking the anniversary of the Islamic Republic Day, the prominent Shia source of emulation praised the Iranian nation’s presence in the field, describing the people as “angels on earth” for their steadfast support of the country and its principles.
He pointed to recent developments, saying the nation has witnessed bitter and painful incidents, including attacks on civilians, children, and religious sites. He condemned acts of aggression targeting innocent people, as well as violations against the sanctity of the Quran and holy shrines.
Ayatollah Javadi Amoli stressed that resistance against such aggression is not only justified but obligatory. Drawing on Islamic teachings, he noted that defending one’s life, property, and homeland is a clear religious duty when faced with an aggressor.
He further underlined that the Islamic system has remained committed to its international obligations, citing Quranic guidance that calls for honoring agreements as long as the other party remains faithful to them. However, he said the opposing side has repeatedly violated its commitments, even during negotiations.
“The enemy does not adhere to any negotiation or agreement,” he said, adding that such actions demonstrate a disregard not only for Islamic principles but also for basic human values.
Referring to the concept of patriotism, the cleric described love for one’s homeland as a natural and noble human instinct, rooted in both religious teachings and human nature.
He also paid tribute to those killed in recent events, as well as military commanders and decision-makers, while expressing appreciation for Iran’s armed forces across air, land, and sea for safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity, including strategic waterways.
The senior cleric commended the Iranian people for their continued presence in public spaces, saying future generations would take pride in their courage and unity during critical times.
He also acknowledged the efforts of relief workers, medical staff, and volunteers, including members of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, for their role in providing essential services under challenging conditions.
In his concluding remarks, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli prayed for the continued strength, dignity, and prosperity of the Iranian nation, expressing hope that the country remains safeguarded until the reappearance of the awaited savior.
